Yes, Dino! I used to work 60-hour weeks in an industry that did not pay very well. Lots of brain work, editing work. When my husband and I split, his parting words were, "You will never make it in this world without me." I therefore attempted to prove him wrong. I was able to keep a roof over my son's and my heads. But I felt I was losing my soul. After suffering depression, I cut back my work hours, and quit attending the mainstream Christian church. I studied basic Buddhism. I started attending the Unitarian Universalist Church. I got involved with community outreach. I started smiling more. Less income, but more deep down satisfaction.

I understand what are you talking about.

Once you decide not to let yourself be ruled by the norms and rules and so called "standards " that one needs to meet in order to be considered "worthy " in and by the society it is almost like a 180 degrees turn ! And upside down turn.

That is the time when you realize and feel your real freedom and start enjoying little things in life that are neither demanding nor mandatory
