Good point !

I would respectfully like to add that by cracking a joke at the tyrant and regime gives them "insignificance " and brings on the idea that they are only humans too who like to believe they are omnipotent and powerful.... and one more thing: NOTHING is permanent in this life (good things and bad things alike).

So, laughter on !

Molly Ivins had this figured out two decades ago, at least: "So keep fightin' for freedom and justice, beloveds, but don't you forget to have fun doin' it. Lord, let your laughter ring forth. Be outrageous, ridicule the fraidy-cats, rejoice in all the oddities that freedom can produce." Thanks for the eloquent reminder.

Your words are inspiring. I haven’t laughed yet. I think I may have misplaced my funny bone, but I’ll keep looking.

Love this piece β€” especially the reminder that we can always express the immutable fact that β€œYou [they, the tyrants] don’t own our spirit.”

Thank you for honoring the power of laughter… this essay called to mind another one, from some years back by Anne Lamott (another of my favorite writers) who said β€œLaughter is carbonated holiness”. May it be.

Another soothing read. BTW, my morning "prayer", if you will, is "I Know not the God's but I Know their Sweetness". I no longer weep out of despair. I still weep but it's because I'm lifted and reassured of all the hope, love and laughter to be found in your words, your readers' comments and the comics out there who keep me sane.
